Hi Fly Converts World’s Largest Passenger Jet Airbus A380 For Cargo Use
Hi Fly converts world’s largest passenger jet Airbus A380 for cargo use.
The conversion created the world’s first cargo Airbus A380.
The aircraft is being used to transport medical equipments to aid the fight against Covid-19.
With the new configuration, the aircraft can now take heavier load than Airbus freighter airplane, known as the Beluga XL.

The top deck on the A380 has the smallest cargo capacity

Portuguese charter operator Hi Fly has removed all the economy seats from the only Airbus A380 in its fleet to make way for more cargo — making it the world’s first A380 to be converted for freight.
The airline retained the business and first-class seats as premium-cabin seats have more parts and are harder to disassemble or reinstall.

The conversion now offers over 300 cubic meters of capacity and can also fly with almost 60 tons of cargo.

According to the airline, the newly converted A380 is being used to transport medical and protective equipment to aid the fight against Covid-19.
Its most recent destinations includes Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic; Montreal in Canada; and Tianjin and Wuhan in China.
