Japan donates 9 rescue vehicles, rescue equipment, and 4 Mobile Water Purifier Systems To Nigeria.
This donations was made known on the Embassy of Japan Nigeria’s Facebook page, where pictures of the delivered equipment were showcased.
The event took place during an induction for disaster risk reduction equipment donated by the Government of Japan took place at the Nigeria Army Resource Centre.
The post was caption with :
“On May 24, the induction ceremony for disaster risk reduction equipment donated by the Government of Japan took place at the Nigeria Army Resource Centre. On that occasion, the Government of Japan donated 9 units of rescue vehicles with rescue equipment and 4 units of mobile water purifier systems with vehicles to NEMA.”
The caption continued :
“The equipment is part of a project which is worth a total of JPY 500 million (equivalent to approximately USD 4.5 million) meant to support Nigeria’s efforts to equip NEMA and other emergency operation centers with disaster reduction related equipment.”
At the event, Mr. SHINOZAWA Takayuki, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, stated :
“As a true friend of Nigeria, any loss of life in Nigeria as a result of disaster is always a sad news for Japan.” And “It is with this friendly and empathic feeling that Japan has been making efforts at enhancing its engagement with Nigeria towards disaster risk reduction”
The event was attended by the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster management and Social Development, H.E. Sadiya Umar Farouq, and Chairman Senate Committee on Special Duties, Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf.
Other attendees includes Chairman House Committee on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness, Hon. Abdulraheem Olawuyi and the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency, AVM Muhammadu A. Muhammed.
Japan and Nigeria have many things in common, one of which is the occurrence of natural disasters. As a friend of Nigeria, the country hopes to continue to lend support towards its efforts to reduce the risk of disaster.
