FC Bayern Munich stars, including Lewandowski and Leroy Sane, receive all-electric Audi e-tron GT ‘Company Car’.
Last September, FC Bayern Munich and Audi kicked off their journey toward sustainable mobility together.
Bayern has a sponsorship deal with German automaker, Audi, which is estimated at 50 million euros.
Part of the deal is that each of the players will get an Audi car at the beginning of each season.
One of the clauses of this contract is that Bayern players must come for training sessions in their Audi cars.
Any player that comes to training in a car other than Audi (or cars under Volkswagen), risk a fine of 50,000 euros.
Last September, FC Bayern Munich players and members of the club’s management received all-electric Audi e-tron and Audi e-tron Sportback after the German club and Audi kicked off their journey toward sustainable mobility together.
Now, the partners are taking the next step in the electrification of FC Bayern’s vehicle fleet after a total of 15 FC Bayern players and officials were handed an Audi e-tron GT and Audi RS e-tron GT.
At the official handover at the Driver Experience Center in Neuburg, ten FC Bayern players, including Bundesliga record scorer, Robert Lewandowski, Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry, experienced the mesmerizing acceleration of their new sporty electric car.
The soccer players, under the guidance of Formula E champions Lucas di Grassi and René Rast, used the test track at the Audi Driving Experience Center to put their driving skills and reflexes to the test.
“Amazing how smoothly the Audi RS e-tron GT whizzes through the curves,” commented soccer star Leroy Sané about the vehicle, which he drove impressively easily around the circuit.
Commenting on the new electric cars, Andreas Jung, Executive Board Member responsible for marketing at FC Bayern, said :
“Together with Audi, we want to inspire people to do more to combat climate change – through positive examples of a successful transformation.
