Tesla Launches Supercharging Stations In Morocco, Its First In Africa

US-based electric car maker Tesla launches first Supercharging Stations in Morocco, its first in Africa.
Both chargers, located in the northern part of the country, are each equipped with four V2 Supercharging stalls.
Tesla now it has more than 25,000 individual fast-chargers (stalls) at over 2,700 charging stations across the globe.
Tesla, whose current lineups includes Model S, 3, X and Y, is expected to gradually open stores and service centers also in Africa.
Tesla has opened two Supercharging stations in Morocco, the US electric car makers first ever in Africa. The company installed four supercharger stations near the Tangier Al Houara Hilton Resort while the second set of four superchargers was installed at the Onomo Hotel in Casablanca.
The stations, located in the northern part of the country, are each equipped with four V2 Supercharging stalls, which are capable of delivering 150kW.
At this point, it’s not clear whether Tesla is really expanding its business to Morocco as there is no service center or store in the country, according to reports.
But Tesla, whose current lineups includes Model S, 3, X and Y, is expected to gradually open stores and service centers also in Africa.
Tesla opened its first Supercharger ten years ago and now it has more than 25,000 individual fast-chargers (stalls) at over 2,700 charging stations across the globe. Its Supercharging network is currently expanding at a rate of almost 3 stations per day and about 26 stalls per day.
The US-based electric car makers Supercharging network is considered the top solution for long-distance driving in an electric car. The company recently reveal its plans to open its network to non-Tesla EVs, but the plan is currently being considered for selected markets in the beginning.
