2023 Nissan Pathfinder Gets “Rock Creek” Rugged Version With More Power And Torque
Nissan announced a new off-road-prepped variant of the Pathfinder for the 2023 model year, called “Rock Creek”. The new SUV will come with a slightly more powerful engine, beefed-up suspension, and subtle visual tweaks to communicate its rugged nature.
While it sticks with the car-like unibody design of the regular Pathfinder, the Rock Creek adds some extra capability thanks to the addition of standard all-wheel drive, off-road-tuned suspension with a 5/8-inch lift, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and a roof rack with a 220-pound carrying capacity.
Visually, you should have no problems differentiating it from the standard Pathfinder thanks to the new exclusive front fascia with black V-motion grille and Rock Creek badging. There’s also a tubular roof rack with up to 220-pound (100-kilogram) load capacity.
On the interior, Nissan gives the Rock Creek its own leatherette/fabric seating material and embosses the seats with the Rock Creek logo. Orange contrast stitching is seen all over the inside, decorating the seats, steering wheel, instrument panel, centre console and door panels. Second-row occupants will revel in the standard captain’s chairs, while drivers will appreciate Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor with Off-Road Mode, fitted as standard.
The final upgrade represents a minor power boost over the regular Pathfinder, with the new Rock Creek Edition having 295 hp and 270 lb-ft (366 Nm) of torque to play with, on premium gas. Without the revised fuel mapping, the naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 engine produces 284 hp and 259 lb-ft (351 Nm).
