Stellantis, Owner Of 16 Car Brands Including Jeep, Peugeot, Maserati, Suspends Operations In Russia
Stellantis suspends operations in Russia, becoming the latest firm to halt operations in the country following its invasion of Ukraine.
It said it is suspending vehicle production in the city of Kaluga to comply with sanctions and ‘protect its employees’.
Stellantis has since moved its production to Western Europe, while further investment into the country has been delayed.
The Auto Group was formed in 2021 following the merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the French PSA Group.
Some of the 16 car brands under Stellantis includes Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, Opel and Peugeot.

Multinational automotive manufacturing corporation, Stellantis N. V. , has became the latest firm to suspends its operations in Russia, following its invasion of Ukraine in February.
The car maker, one of several companies that have donated reliefs to Ukrainian refugees and civilians, says it is suspending its vehicle production in the western city of Kaluga to comply with sanctions and ‘protect its employees’.
Stellantis, one of the largest auto groups, has since moved its production from Russia to Western Europe, while further investment into the country has been delayed, the company added.
“Given the rapid daily increase in cross sanctions and logistical difficulties, Stellantis has suspended its manufacturing operations in Kaluga to ensure full compliance with all cross sanctions and to protect its employees,” the statement said.

The multinational automotive manufacturing corporation, headquartered in Amsterdam, was formed in 2021 following the merger between the Italian-American conglomerate Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the French PSA Group.
Car brands under Stellantis includes Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Mopar, Opel, Peugeot, Ram and Vauxhall.
Stellantis has assembly plants in Europe, Asia North America, South America. In Africa, the group has plants in Algeria, Morocco and in Kaduna, Nigeria. The group has industrial operations in nearly 30 countries and a commercial presence in more than 130 markets.
Stellantis moves follows the decision of other automakers, including Volkswagen, Porsche, General Motors, Ford and Germany’s Daimler Truck Holding AG., to suspend operations in Russia.
