Today’s Photos : Nigerian Head of States Gowon, Babangida and President Shehu Shagari rides with Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen Elizabeth II, born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, was until her death, the Queen of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms, including Nigeria.

Nigerian Head of State Yakubu Gowon, who ruled between 1966 and 1975, rides with Queen Elizabeth II to Buckingham Palace during an official visit to London, UK, June 1973.

An official visit by Nigerian President Alhaji Shehu Shagari to the United Kingdom on the 17th March, 1981.
Shagari, who was warmly received by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, made a colourful procession to the Buckingham palace.
The reign of Shehu Shagari, the first democratically elected President of Nigeria, lasted from 1979 to 1983.
