Romano Artioli, The Man Who Revived The Bugatti Brand In 1991 With EB110 Sports Car, Turns 90
Romano Artioli, the man who bought the rights to Bugatti in 1987 and revived the brand in 1991, turns 90.
In the 1980s, Artioli ran one of the largest Ferrari dealerships in the world, selling in northern Italy and southern Germany.
A passionate Bugatti fan since boyhood, he was the former chairman of Bugatti Automobili S.p.A. between 1991 and 1995.
He bought the rights to Bugatti in 1987 after being encouraged by Ferrari founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini.
He revived the brand in 1991 by presenting the groundbreaking EB110 on Sept. 15th 1991, on Ettore Bugatti’s 100th birthday.
The iconic Bugatti EB110 was the world’s best and fastest super sports car at its time.
French Hypercar maker Bugatti is paying tribute to Romano Artioli, a successful Italian entrepreneur and one-time owner of Bugatti and Lotus automobile brands, who turned 90 years on December 5th, 2022.
In the 1980s, Artioli ran one of the largest Ferrari dealerships in the world, selling in northern Italy and southern Germany. A passionate Bugatti fan since boyhood, he bought the rights to Bugatti in 1987 after being encouraged by Ferrari founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini.
Artioli revived the brand in 1991 by presenting the groundbreaking Bugatti EB110 on the 15th of September 1991, a day that coincides with Ettore Bugatti’s 100th birthday. He became chairman of Bugatti Automobili S.p.A., which made the Bugatti EB 110 between 1991 and 1995.
The EB110, which inspires the limited-edition Centodieci super car (which means 110 in Italian, was the best and fastest super sports car of its time. EB110 featured the first series-produced carbon chassis, all-wheel drive, four turbochargers and a 3.5-liter V12 engine with five valves per cylinder delivering a power output of 560 PS and top speed of 351 km/h.
