Lagos Blue Line resumes passenger Operations tomorrow october 16th with 52 daily train trips after rail electrification. 

Switch to energized tracks will allow for the deployment of additional train sets for daily passenger operations.

Starting on Monday, 16th Oct. 2023, train trips will increase to 52 and ultimately, 74 trips before the end of November 2023.

It is projected that passenger movement between Marina and Mile 2 in the coming months will surpass 150,000 passengers daily.





Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line (Marina to Mile 2) will on Monday October 16th 2023 resume full passenger operations with 52 daily train trips, following the completion of change over to electrified rails on Sunday 15th of October 2023.

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) had on Wednesday October 11th announced a pause in train services on Saturday (Oct 14th) and Sunday (Oct 15th) to allow a switch to electricity.

Starting on Monday, 16th October 2023, the switch to energized track will allow for the deployment of additional train sets which will increase train trips from the previous 12 to 52 and ultimately to 74 trips before the end of November 2023.





Here are three (3) things to note : According to LAMATA :

1. The new schedule shows there will
be a new train at the station every
30 minutes.

2. On Sundays the train will only
operate during the morning peak
service hours and evening peak
service hours.

3. A new train has been introduced
to the Marina – Mile 2 corridor, two
trains will work simultaneously
and seamlessly.

Full passenger operation of the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line, which stretches 13-kilometres from Marina to Mile 2, was first launched by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on 4 September, 2023.

Since then, the Blue Line has moved over 80,000 passengers. It is projected that passenger movement between Marina and Mile 2 in the coming months will surpass 150,000 passengers daily.
