Lagos Blue Line Has Moved 583,000 Passengers In 4 Months – LAMATA

Lagos Blue Line has moved 583,000 passengers between September 4, 2023 and January 4 2024, says LAMATA.

Gov Sanwo-Olu had on Sept 4th 2023 flagged off the commercial operations of the first phase of the Blue Line (Marina – Mile 2).

As at October 5 2023, the Blue Line system has made over 350 trips and ferried over 75,000 Passengers across its routes.

A full ride between Marina and Mile 2 costs N750 naira and lasts about 28 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has revealed that the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line (Marina – Mile 2) has moved 583,000 passengers to date, just 4 months after the commencement of commercial operations.

In a post shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday January 18th, LAMATA wrote :

“Since its launch on September 4th 2023, the Blue Line, the first of several planned rail lines in Lagos, has already served an impressive 583,000 passengers by January 4th, 2024, demonstrating its positive impact on the city’s transportation system”.

Currently, a full ride along the 13-kilometers stretch between Marina and Mile 2 costs N750 naira and lasts about 28 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.

Recall that the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on Monday September 4th 2023 flagged off the commercial operations of the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line (Marina – Mile 2).

As at October 5 2023 (a month since the commencement of train services), LAMATA revealed that the Blue Line system has made over 350 trips and ferried over 75,000 Passengers across its routes.

Presently, two train sets run 54 trips along the 13-kilometers stretch between Marina and Mile 2 to minimize the incidence of commuters rushing to enter the train.
