BMW Is Recalling 37,430 Automobiles

Published

on

BMW, the renowned German carmaker, is recalling 37,430 vehicles worldwide due to a critical issue with a potentially misplaced cable in the 48-volt system.

The problem affects Series 3, 4, 5, X3, and X5 models manufactured between September 2024 and February 2025. In Germany, there are 710 vehicles, writes Fenix Magazine.

The fault is in the starter-generator connection of the battery. If there is too much resistance at the junction, the contacts may overheat, resulting in a fire hazard or motor failure. With the X5 model, the problem concerns only the long version, which is produced exclusively for the Chinese market.

In Germany, BMW will notify all owners of the recall via the Federal Motor Vehicle Administration (KBA). Vehicles will be inspected at authorized service centers, where the connection will be checked, and if necessary, the plus cable or the entire starter-generator will be replaced. Repairs will be free of charge. The same is expected in other countries.
