The Rearview Mirrors Of Some Mercedes-Benz Models May Fall Off

When you invest in a luxury vehicle, you expect not just a prestigious brand but also high quality and reliability. Every detail should be crafted with precision, with no room for compromise.

However, mistakes do happen, and in the latest case, the mirror of the rearview mirror was recalled due to a manufacturing error. The new recall covers some of the latest Mercedes-Benz and Maybach models in the US.

In this case, the problem is with the glue used to attach the mirror to the inside of the windshield. The recall covers 26 vehicles across the USA.

Mercedes states that the adhesive used did not meet their internal specifications. The result? The mirror can loosen, partially separate, or, in the worst case, completely fall off.

The rearview mirror allows the driver to see behind the vehicle and contains important sensors and cameras for driving assistance systems. If these components fail, the risk of a traffic accident increases.

Mercedes points out that the problem arose with the supplier, AGC Automotive Americas Co., from Michigan. A manufacturing deviation was identified that resulted in the adhesive joints not having the required strength to meet the manufacturer’s standards.

The recall applies to vehicles manufactured between June 5 and October 12, 2024, including the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 and 63 S, as well as the 2025 GLE 53 SUV and Coupe, and slightly more affordable versions of the “regular” GLE models. However, it is surprising that the recall also includes the Maybach GLS 600.

Mercedes has reported no complaints or feedback about the issue. Authorized service centers will replace the windshield and reinstall the rearview mirror and camera systems on affected vehicles.
