Do you remember the title: Electricity will be more expensive, but bills will be lower! We can describe the situation with electric cars in Europe in a similar way. They say sales are recovering; however, we cannot see that in concrete evidence.

Namely, there are no electric models in the top 30 best-selling cars on the continent in 2025. To be more precise, the Tesla Model Y is in 33rd place, far behind the Renault Clio, Dacia Sandero, Volkswagen T-Rock, Peugeot 208, and Golf… Manufacturers, like customers, are quite confused. Regulations are pushing them towards e-mobility, but they can’t charge for it. Because not everyone is the same. Tesla lives only on electricity, while other brands have to work on multiple fronts. With all that, competition from China flooded the market.

The tariff on Chinese cars in America is 250%

But, that story is also… told… The Chinese government has asked domestic manufacturers to calm down in the price war. Chinese dealers, for their part, want the brands to reduce production as they are left with large inventories of unsold cars and face imminent bankruptcy. How is that possible? By trying too hard to mislead the buyer, the seller became a loser. Namely, the brands lowered the prices as much as possible and increased production, and now the dealers are the ones who suffer. According to a recent analysis, there may only be about fifteen car brands left in China, compared to a few dozen at present. Dealers are also paying the price: In total, more than twenty large BYD dealerships in China have had to reduce their activity or close their doors completely. It remains to be seen what will happen to the car owners and where they will service them.

So Chinese manufacturers are left with thousands and thousands of electric cars on the market. They cannot go to Europe because they are additionally taxed due to unfair competition. It’s the same story with America and Trump’s 250% tariff on Chinese cars. And that’s why we got into a stupid situation – the Chinese can’t sell cheap electric cars, and we can’t buy them because they’re too expensive in Europe. But it is important that sales grow even though no one buys them, right?!
