Honda Set To Bring The Acura Brand To Japan

Strange but true: Honda is bringing a largely American brand to its home country of Japan. The car from this brand that launches there will also be built in the US. An American Honda model will also make the crossing.
Acura is to Honda what Lexus is to Toyota. In both cases, it’s the luxury division of the large Japanese automaker, designed to make life difficult for European premium brands in particular. Lexus has conquered the world since its founding in 1989, but secretly, Honda came first. Acura has been around since 1986, but until now, it has remained limited to North America. Kuwait is the only exception, although Acura cars are sometimes offered elsewhere under the Honda brand.
While we still don’t expect an Acura in Europe, Honda is now expanding its brand to… Japan! Several American media outlets are reporting that the brand is bringing the Type-S variant of the sporty Integra to Japan. The Honda Trailsport Elite, a more rugged version of a large Honda SUV, is also being added to the mix. The cars will reportedly remain left-hand drive, like many European and American imports in Japan, and will be the first American-built Honda products to reach the Japanese market in decades.
