Stellantis To Hire More Than 2000 New Engineers To Improve Vehicle Quality

Stellantis has decided to hire more than 2000 new engineers, and the goal is clear: to improve the quality of vehicles and stabilize the development of new models. CEO Antonio Filosa described the move as a “deep reset” of sorts in the way cars are developed and brought to market.

According to him, Stellantis is currently reorganizing its internal processes to solve problems that arose due to earlier business decisions. At the focus of that turnaround is quality management, which now has a much more important role within the company. This can also be seen in the organizational structure. Chief Quality Officer Sebastien Jaquet is now a member of the group’s strategic management, which means that issues of reliability and long-term quality are no longer just a technical detail but an important part of business strategy.

The reason for such changes lies in the uneven results that Stellantis achieved in various reliability surveys in recent years. Experts emphasize that problems are most common with completely new models or major redesigns. In such situations, new technologies and complex systems can bring unforeseen difficulties when the cars reach customers.

Some Stellantis traders believe part of the problem stems from a period of aggressive cost-cutting during the tenure of former CEO Carlos Tavares. According to them, the reduction of engineering resources could affect the quality of development of new models. It is interesting that Stellantis, in some cases, tries to simplify the offer and rely on proven technical solutions. The goal is to reduce production complexity and, at the same time, increase vehicle reliability, which should improve customer satisfaction in the long run.
