The BMW Group Continues To Be The Biggest Exporter Of Cars From The US

According to data released by the US Department of Commerce, the BMW Group remained the largest exporter of cars by value in the United States in 2025.
Last year, the factory in Spartanburg, South Carolina, exported nearly 200,000 BMW X models with a total export value of nine billion US dollars. Since 2014, the BMW Group has exported nearly three million vehicles with a total export value of US$113 billion.
BMW’s assembled at the Spartanburg plant were exported through the port of Charleston, South Carolina, as well as through additional ports on the East Coast. More than 14,000 BMWs were also exported by rail. In 2025, employees at the BMW Group’s American plant assembled 412,799 BMW X models. This is the third-highest production volume in the plant’s 32-year history.
Since 1992, the BMW Group has invested just under US$16 billion in operations in South Carolina. The Spartanburg plant is the largest BMW Group plant in the world, assembling more than 1,500 vehicles every day. It is also an important part of the company’s global manufacturing network and plays a key role in meeting the demand for BMW vehicles in the US and around the world. About 50 percent of its vehicles are delivered to almost 120 global markets. The factory employs 11,000 workers.
