Toyota To Recall Half A Million Vehicles In the US
Japanese automaker Toyota is recalling 550,007 vehicles in the United States due to a mechanical defect that could lead to injuries, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.
The agency states that the reason for this recall is a faulty seatback mechanism, as there is a possibility that it may not lock, which increases the risk to passenger safety, Reuters reported.
NHTSA notes that the recall affects certain Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles manufactured from 2021 to 2024.
In these vehicles, the second row seatbacks may not lock during adjustment.
Dealers will replace the return springs in the seatback assemblies at no cost to owners, NHTSA said.
