Indigenous airline, Air Peace, receives another Boeing 737 aircraft on maintenance from Israel.

Cost of air travel will begin to drop with the arrival of the aircraft and others receiving maintenance abroad.

The arrival of the aircraft comes days after Air Peace workers received a surprise salary increase.

Nigeria’s biggest airline, Air Peace, has announced the arrival of one of its aircraft, a Boeing 737, which has been undergoing C-check maintenance in Israel.

According to Air Peace, the aircraft, with registration number 5N-BQU, arrived in Lagos on Friday after going through maintenance in Israel. The aircraft is one of several Air Peace aircraft’s that went for maintenance services abroad.

“We’re happy to announce the arrival of another Boeing 737, which has been undergoing C-Check Maintenance in Israel. The aircraft, with registration number 5N-BQU, arrived Lagos on Friday, June 4, 2021”

“As more aircraft return from maintenance, we’ll gradually increase frequency to selected destinations and provide you with more connectivity.”

Stakeholders believes that the arrival of the aircraft, as well the other aircrafts undergoing maintenance services abroad, will reduce the current high air fares.

The arrival of the aircraft comes days after Air Peace workers received a surprise salary increase, coming at a time when many companies are laying off staff due to the economic downturn occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to reports, some workers received about 100 per cent salary increase, while the big earners got minimum of 10 per cent increase.

Reacting to the salary increase, the Cabin Services Manager, Florence Opiah, said the workers of the airline were over-excited with the development.

“The increase even came at a time when we are not operating many flights. We used to operate 135 flights a day but now we operate relatively fewer flights and he still gave us such increase across board, to everybody. It was shocking. We could not believe it”

“The raise will boost the morale of the workers to dedicate themselves more to the company. There were even some workers who were contemplating going for greener pastures”

“I am sure they will stay back now and more people from other airlines will be pushing to come in. I will like to really thank our Chairman”

“We have been praying for him. God will continue to protect him. He remains a pacesetter. We can never take his kindness for granted”
