All New 2025 Audi A5 Revealed In Sportback And Avant Variant

Since SUS technology will be offered for at least the next decade, Audi has developed a new platform, and the first model with which it debuts is the new Audi A5.

Audi’s long-term model nomenclature has recently undergone certain changes. In the past, even-numbered cars such as the A4, A6, and A8 were (mostly) sedans, and the odd-numbered models (A5 and A7) had various body styles, including sportbacks, coupes, and cabrios. The exception to this were the station wagon variants, called Avant, of the A4 and A6 models.

However, all even-numbered Audis will be electric vehicles in the future, while odd-numbered cars are reserved for petrol, diesel, and hybrid cars (the same goes for Q-badged SUVs and crossovers).

There was also a rationalization of body styles. So there will be no A5 Coupe or A5 Cabriolet. The new A5 will be offered as a five-door Sportback and an A5 Avant station wagon.

The new A5 is a larger car than its predecessor, adding 13mm in width, 24mm in height, 67mm in length, and perhaps most noticeably for passengers, an extra 79mm to the wheelbase, a decent improvement in rear-seat passenger space.

Furthermore, the new A5 has the same “Digital Stage” infotainment system as the Q6 e-tron, with a pair of OLED screens (one for the main instrument display, the other for the infotainment display), and an optional third screen for the front seat passenger (this third screen cannot be seen from the driver’s seat, to reduce distraction).

There’s the same smart lighting technology inside and out, a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems, and an augmented reality head-up display.

The American media reports that Audi is bringing the new A5 from the power unit to the US at the beginning of the market launch.

The A5 uses an evolution of the 200kW/272hp variable geometry turbocharged 2.0-litre EA288 four-cylinder, with Audi saying the engine has been optimized for more efficient operation. The A5 with this engine will be available with front- or all-wheel drive, both using a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.  The second drive is reserved for the sporty Audi S5. This one uses a 3.0-litre turbo V6 engine with an output of 270 kW/367 hp.

Audi mentions and modifies suspension as well as improved steering.
