Lagos Arraigns Man For Assaulting LASTMA Officer
The Lagos State Government on Monday arraigned a resident, Ben Emmanuel. He was arraigned before the Yaba Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Ismaila Lukman.
Emmanuel and some persons now at large were alleged to have assaulted and inflicted injuries on Ismaila Lukman, a LASTMA officer. This happened while he was carrying out his assigned official duty.
The incident happened on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at the Jakande Junction area in Lekki.

The victim was reported to be controlling traffic at the junction when the defendant approached him. He then asked that traffic be stopped for him to cross.
Emmanuel allegedly stepped onto the carriageway in front of moving traffic and caused disruption to traffic flow.
When Lukman asked him to leave the road, Emmanuel and two other passersby were alleged to have beaten up the LASTMA official.
He was arraigned on two counts bordering on causing grievous bodily harm and resisting a public officer.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate, Wahab Balogun, admitted him to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till November 26, 2020, for trial.
The state Attorney General, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), in a statement on Monday, warned residents against harassing government officials carrying out their lawful duties.
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority is a Lagos State-owned agency under the Ministry of Transportation.
The agency was established on the 15th of July, 2000 to transform the state transportation system to ensure free flow of traffic in the state and also reduce road accidents.
