Automakers Who Canceled Plans To Go Fully Electric By 2030, From Rolls-Royce To Lamborghini
From Rolls-Royce to Lamborghini, here are car manufacturers who have canceled plans to go fully electric by 2030.
Over 12 carmakers have announced plans to scale back their EV plans due to high demand for combustion engines and close to no interest in EVs.
Automakers like Bentley and Lamborghini have choosen to extend the availability of plug-in hybrid cars in their line-ups.

Rolls-Royce Motors has become the latest of more than a dozen car manufacturers to scrap their 2030 all-electric car target, saying that it would continue making petrol engine vehicles beyond due to high demands.
BMW-owned Rolls-Royce joins at least 12 global carmakers who have announced plans to scale back their EV plans due to high demand for combustion engines and close to no interest in EVs.

Lotus, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Stellantis and Volvo Cars have also dial back their EV plans in recent months, with many choosing to extend the availability of plug-in hybrid cars in their line-ups.
Rolls-Royce move comes nearly a week after VW-owned Lamborghini scrapped plans for its all-electric Lanzador model – earlier scheduled for launch in 2029, with the Italian brand and its corporate sibling, Bentley Motors, now focusing on plug-in hybrid models due to “close to zero” interest in EVs.

“The rejection rate of the full electric cars is increasing,” said chief executive Stephan Winkelmann.
“The emotional part [of a Lamborghini] is the vibration of the car, how you steer, how you brake, and one of the biggest [factors in] the rejection of fully electric cars was the missing sound of the engine.”
While Ferrari halved its 2030 EV production target in 2025, the Italian sports car marque maintains plans to launch its first fully electric called the Luce in May 2026, though it has delayed the launch of its second EV model to 2028 due to weak demand.
