All-new Electric BMW iX3 SUV Arrives As The First Neue Klasse Model - autojosh

Like many other European brands, BMW is currently struggling in China and, therefore, struggling in general. The new BMW iX3 is supposed to save the day there.

Down 0.4 percent in the third quarter and down 11.2 percent in the first nine months combined. These aren’t great growth figures, especially considering they’re in a country that, with hundreds of thousands of cars sold annually, still easily calls itself BMW’s largest market. The sales decline in China, therefore, has major consequences for BMW as a whole, and it’s certainly not the only European brand currently facing this major concern. The Chinese are increasingly being tempted by domestically produced products, which are also becoming increasingly common in every segment.

BMW CEO Oliver Zipse is pinning his hopes for China on the new iX3. As the first product in the so-called ‘Neue Klasse’ series, the electric EV is already incredibly important to BMW, but that certainly applies to China as well. Things remain a bit of a wait-and-see situation in that regard, as the iX3 won’t be launched in China until mid-2026.

Pricing isn’t available yet, but “it’s a very attractive and competitive proposition,” Zipse promises. Moreover, the car will be “enriched with digital solutions from China,” and that, combined with the price, is enough to give Zipse confidence in ‘his’ iX3 for the Chinese market. He puts it a bit bluntly: “We’re not really worried that there won’t be a demand for this product.”
