From DBX707 and Urus Performante, to Phantom Series II to Celestiq EV, here are 10 ultra-luxury cars launched in 2022.
With few days to the end of the Twenty Twenty-two (2022) calendar year, we went through our archives to bring you 10 of the ultra-luxury cars unveiled in 2022 to brighten up your day.
From DBX707 and Urus Performante, to Phantom Series II to Celestiq EV, here are 10 ultra-luxury cars launched in 2022.
1) Aston Martin DBX707
Earlier this year, Aston Martin Lagonda launched the DBX707, an all-new high-performance luxury SUV based on the fast selling Aston Martin DBX. The 2022 Aston Martin DBX707 starts at $232,000, which is about $52,000 more than the standard DBX.
Aston Martin plans to produce 5,000 DBX707 vehicles per year, with the expecting sales to be strongest in the U.S. and China, with Europe not far behind.
2) 2023 BMW 7-Series, Electric i7 Variant
BMW took the wraps off the all-new seventh-generation of the 7-Series luxury sedan in April. The all-new absolute flagship in Bavaria’s lineup has been extended by 130mm to 5391mm, while its width is increased by 48mm to 1950mm.
The 2023 7 Series will go on sale in the Q4 2022 with a base MSRP price of $93,300 for the 740i while the 2023 760i xDrive starts at $113,600. i7 xDrive60 sells for $119,300.
3) Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II
British luxury marque Rolls-Royce in May unveiled the latest expression of its flagship ultra-luxury sedan, the Phantom Series II, which arrived in its current form in 2017, as a 2018 model.
Upgrades in the Phantom Series II include a subtle geometric change to the Pantheon Grille makes the ‘RR’ Badge of Honour and Spirit of Ecstasy figurine more prominent when viewed from the front.
4) Lamborghini Urus Performante
Automobili Lamborghini in August debuted the new Urus Performante, a faster, lighter, lower and high-performance version of the already impressive record-setting Urus Super SUV.
The Urus Performante differentiate itself from the base SUV with a bolder and more prominent bonnet and bumper design to highlights its super sports genetics, while a newly-designed rear spoiler increases rear downforce of the Urus Performante by 38%.
5) BMW XM
The 2023 BMW XM, the M division’s flagship plug-in hybrid Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), arrived in September as the German brand’s most expensive and most powerful SUV ever. The Super-SUV now represents the pinnacle of the M lineup.
BMW XM start at $159,995, while the more powerful Label Red model carries a sticker price of over $185,000. It will arrive at dealers worldwide in spring 2023.
6) Ferrari Purosangue
Also in September, Ferrari unveiled the Purosangue. The 715-horsepower Purosangue, which means “pure blood” in Italian, will hit the market in 2023 as the Italian brands first-ever luxury SUV and its first four-door four-seater.
It starts at £313,120 ($379,658) in the UK, making it $165,000 more expensive than the Lamborghini Urus SUV. When it goes on sale late next year, the Purosangue will take on the likes of Lamborghini Urus Performante, Aston Martin DBX and the Bentley Bentayga Speed.
7) 2024 Cadillac Celestiq
Also in October, General Motors’ luxury brand Cadillac debuted the all-new 2024 Celestiq, its first ever fully electric production sedan and its most expensive model to date. The Celestiq will go 300 miles electric range before its 111-kWh battery pack runs out of juice.
Starting at $300,000, Cadillac’s flagship sedan, Celestiq, will go up against battery-powered cars from Rolls-Royce and Bentley when it arrives in the market in 2024 as a 2025 model.
8) Rolls-Royce Spectre EV
Rolls-Royce Motors finally entered the world of electrification in October with the launch of the two-door Spectre Coupe, the British brand’s first-ever electric vehicle (EV). Its driving range is estimated around 320-mile (520 km) on fully charged battery-pack.
Spectre will ride on the same platform as the Phantom and Cullinan. Starting somewhere between the $350k Cullinan SUV and $460k Phantom sedan, the Rolls-Royce Spectre is expected to reach dealerships worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2023.
9) Porsche 911 Dakar
The all-new 2023 Porsche 911 Dakar, a lifted and off-road-capable variant of the famed road-going 911 sports car, officially made its debut at the 2022 Los Angeles auto show in November.
Limited to 2,500 units, the exclusive Porsche 911 Dakar model with a starting MSRP of $222,000, “evokes the first overall victory by Porsche in the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally, which was simultaneously the birth of all-wheel drive in the Porsche 911.”
10) Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato
Also in November, Lamborghini revealed the all-new off-road version of the track-focused Huracán EVO super sport car, dubbed the Huracán Sterrato, at the Art Basel, Miami Beach
Unlike the Huracán EVO it is based on, the off-road-ready Sterrato, limited to 1,499 units, comes with lifted suspension, Off-road Tyres, fender flares, LED lights at the front, and a Roof Scoop to ensure the air going to the engine is clean and dust-free.
