Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has released another update on what it called a ‘cyber incident’ that forced the British car maker to shut down its vital IT systems to protect itself from hackers.

Following the breach last week Sunday, JLR told factory workers at its vehicle plants in Halewood, Merseyside, and Solihull as well as its engine factory in Wolverhampton not to come in until Tuesday at the very earliest.

The impact has not affected its UK vehicle production lines and suppliers but also affected retailers and thousands of existing car owners who face huge delays in getting their vehicles repaired due to parts supply chain.

In a statement, India Tata group-owned JLR noted that efforts are on to restart global applications in a controlled and safe manner, adding that it is working with third‑party cybersecurity specialists and alongside law enforcement.

“We continue to work around the clock to restart our global applications in a controlled and safe manner following the recent cyber incident. We are working with third‑party cybersecurity specialists and alongside law enforcement.

“We want to thank all our customers, partners, suppliers and colleagues for their patience and support. We are very sorry for the disruption this incident has caused. Our retail partners remain open and we will continue to provide further updates.”
