Ayrton Senna da Silva (Ayrton Senna), died in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
Brazilian racing driver during his six seasons with McLaren won Formula One World Drivers’ Championship in 1988, 1990, and 1991.
Until his death, Ayrton Senna won 41 Grands Prix and 65 pole positions, with the latter being the record until 2006.
Today May 1st 2023 marks the 29th anniversary since the passing of Brazilian racing driver, Ayrton Senna da Silva (Ayrton Senna), who died in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
Senna was leading the San Marino Grand Prix at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari when his Williams race car lost control at Tamburello corner and hit a wall at 131 mph.
Failure of the steering column was eventually declared the cause of the fatal crash that killed the 34 year old Brazilian three-time Formula 1 world champion.
Following Senna’s deaths, many safety improvements were made in the sport, including improved crash barriers, redesigned tracks, higher crash safety standards and major cuts to engine power.

McLaren Senna
The McLaren Senna is named after the Brazilian Formula One race driver to honour and giving tribute to his success with the McLaren Formula One Team between 1988 and 1993 Formula 1 seasons.
The limited-production mid-engined sports car was unveiled online by the company on 10 December 2017, with the official unveiling taking place at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
The hand-built sports car was limited to just 500 units, all of which are already sold despite a listed price of £750,000 with the final car auctioned at a price of £1,916,793.
