Mercedes-Benz Is Officially Retiring The A And B Class For Good This Time

This moment had to come, and it did. Mercedes is reorganizing the production of its models, and two popular models will leave the first line before the end of the year. That is why it is time to make the necessary preparations for the retirement of two models that have no planned replacement.

Although Mercedes confirmed this last spring, the German brand has even decided to extend the commercial life of its entry-level models by a few more months. The German brand is simply reducing the ballast in its offer, so the A and B class will not be on the assembly lines after the end of this year.

This means that importers will still be able to order units from the factory, but operations will be limited, perhaps by reducing the number of equipment options and also the number of engine versions, keeping the most powerful or best-selling models, but not all. Furthermore, units that have already been produced and remain in stock will be sent to showrooms across Europe.

Minivans are being succeeded by electric cars, and compact cars are disappearing at breakneck speed. The operation of the plant in Raštat will be seriously affected, although it has been producing the new Mercedes CLA Coupé for several weeks and is expected to increase with the arrival of the hybrid before the end of the year.

The wagon variant of the new CLA Shooting Brake will roll off the assembly lines from the spring of 2026, and the new Mercedes GLB, which is under development, as well as the next generation GLA, for which the factory is already preparing, will also roll off the assembly line. Allegedly, the B-Class could briefly extend its production until the beginning of 2026, but not for long and only at the factory’s Hungarian headquarters in Kecskemet, although this has not yet been confirmed.

Mercedes is one of those brands that, if it cancels a model, it is dealt with in all markets, although this decision could be briefly prolonged by the order for taxis. The B-Class, as such, is highly valued in Germany and other countries.
