New Maserati Grecale SUV Delayed Till 2022 Due To Chip Shortage
The upcoming Maserati Grecale luxury SUV has been delayed till next year due to the global chip shortage.
Grecale, the brand’s important second SUV is named after the “Strong north-east wind of the Mediterranean Sea”.
It will share the bulk of its underpinnings with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, excluding an Alfa Romeo-sourced engines.
A fully electric version of the Italian luxury vehicle manufacturer’s second SUV is also due to arrive by 2022.

Maserati’s upcoming second SUV, the Grecale, has become the latest car to be affected by the global chip shortage after the automaker announced its pushing back the reveal date from 16 November to Spring 2022.
In a statement, Maserati said it made the decision “in view of the background problems that have caused interruptions in the supply chains for the key components necessary to complete the car’s production process”.



Maserati kept with its tradition of naming its high performance cars after famous winds as the brand’s important second SUV is named after the “Strong north-east wind of the Mediterranean Sea”.
Others models which the Italian luxury vehicle manufacturer named after famous winds includes the legendary Mistral, the Ghibli, Bora, Merak, Khamsin as well as the Levante SUV.


Grecale, the upcoming Porsche Macan rival, will share the bulk of its underpinnings with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, excluding an Alfa Romeo-sourced engines. A fully electric version of the SUV is also due to arrive by 2022.
The Maserati Grecale SUV will be built on the same production line as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio luxury truck in the FCA plant in Cassino, Italy, where it is planning an investment of around €800 million (£790m).
