Osun is an inland state in south-western Nigeria. Its capital is Osogbo. It is bounded in the north by Kwara State, in the east partly by Ekiti State and partly by Ondo State, in the south by Ogun State and in the west by Oyo State.
Travel Advisory: June 2021
The state faces heightened risk of gunmen attack, recorded incidents have been noted in Osogbo, Ife East and Odo Otin LGAs.
Cult and gang activity continues to threaten business travel within the state, and bring attendant risks of increased threats of violent crime and armed robbery within the metropolis. Militias presence has also been recorded in Erin-Osun, Irepodun LGA.
This state also has an active protest culture, and business travellers are advised to listen to local media to familiarize themselves with protest points across the state.
Threat conditions are high for interstate travel due to the presence of kidnap gangs perpetrating kidnap for ransom and ritual kidnap operations on its expressways, and air travel should be a preferable means of entry and exit to avoid ambushes.
A drilled journey management plan is advised, and general travel should be conducted between the times of 0800hrs-1700hrs.
