As part of its resolve to live up to the expectations of Akwa Ibom people through the provision of motorable roads, and ensuring the safety of pedestrians, the Akwa Ibom State Roads and Other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency (AKROIMA), has assured that it will begin operation zero-potholes on roads across the state, once the present weather condition improves.

The Agency made this known through a Release signed by its Chairman, Prince Godwin Ntukudeh.

Ntukudeh who acknowleged the re-emergence of potholes on some major roads and streets, particularly within the State capital city, related the breakages to the incessant and heavy rainfall experienced in the last few months.

While promising to fix them, the agency maintained that it is almost impossible to get the best of repairs, considering the recurring rainfall which he said, has caused the topsoil to be saturated with water.

He explained that as a result of this saturation, no quantity and quality of materials used will permanently close-up the breakages.

He therefore appealed to Akwa Ibom people, especially residents of affected areas, to show some understanding, adding that the AKROIMA will deploy all known technologies to address their plight soon after the rains.
