Yobe is a state located in northeastern Nigeria. A mainly agricultural state, it was created on August 27, 1991. Yobe State was carved out of Borno State. The capital of Yobe State is Damaturu; its largest city is Potiskum.

With ISWAP and Boko Haram insurgents maintaining established bases within the state, risk levels are severe for business travellers, both in the rural areas and within the capital city of Adamawa.
Areas such as Geidam, Gonri, Yunusari, Bursari LGAs carry increased threat levels, and towns such as Bulabulin, Geidam and Kanamma may have been compromised at this time.
The possibilities of the attack are high and increased for expatriates and government/aid workers.
The security risk rating of this state is extreme, multiple layers of physical security and government security forces (GSF) support may be required to reduce risk exposure to manageable levels.
Travellers are advised to refrain from any non-essential travels to this state, and night-time travel should be avoided.
