Nigerian Army Receives Operational Vehicles From North-East Development Commission (PHOTOS)
Recently, the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) officially donated operational vehicles and ambulances.
The beneficiary of the operational vehicles is the Nigerian Armed Forces. While Ambulances were given to Federal Medical Institutions and Centers in the Northeast Region.
The handing over ceremony happened at Multipurpose Hall of the Government House Maiduguri on the 25 June.
NEDC is the coordinating body for the government to rebuild the North-Eastern states. Their mission is to lead the reconstruction and development of Nigeria’s northeast.
The focus is on those affected by Boko Haram insurgency. They include Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, Yobe, respectively.

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) was established in 2017. The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, signed the bill into law.
It is likely to consolidate and replace other initiatives. Some of those initiatives such as the Victims Support Fund (VSF). Others include Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE), and Presidential Committee on the North-East Initiative (PCNI).
The funding of the Commission will come from various sources. Those sources include the Federal Government of Nigeria, international bilateral donors. Others include the African Development Bank, the World Bank, the UN, the European Union, USAID, UKAID/DFID, as well as local donor.
The NEDC “among other things, is to receive and manage funds from allocation of the Federal Account and international donors for the settlement, rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads, houses and business premises of victims of insurgency as well as tackling the menace of poverty, illiteracy level, ecological problems and any other related environmental or developmental challenges in the North-East states”.
