A Joint Task Force composed of officers from the Nigerian Army and Navy on Saturday raided a camp alleged to be a hideout of gunmen from Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who have been terrorising the Aguata/Orumba Axis of Anambra State.

Several items, including food items, charms and several stolen vehicles reportedly up for sale, were recovered from the camp during the operation.

A bulldozer stationed to block the entrance to the camp was also set on fire by the Joint Task Force during the operation.

Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a separatist organization whose main aim is to restore an independent state of Biafra, has been declared ‘terrorist and illegal’ entity by Nigerian court.

The Pro-Biafra group has stated that those behind the killings and insecurity in the region were not IPOB members.

The group has also accused politicians of importing criminals and hoodlums into the region to carry out an evil agenda.
