Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates First Phase Of Blue Line Rail, Takes A Ride From Iganmu To Marina (Photos, Video) - autojosh

Governor of Lagos State Sanwo-Olu inaugurates the first phase of Blue Line Rail which stretches 13-km from Marina to Mile 2. 

First phase of the LRMT Blue Line covers five Stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina.

During the ceremony, the Governor Sanwo-Olu and his team, including Obafemi Hamzat took a train ride to test the facility. 





The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday December 21st 2022, participated in the ceremony marking the completion of the first phase of the 27-kilometre long Blue Line of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT), which is expected to run from Marina to Okokomaiko.

The first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line stretches 13-kilometres from Marina to Mile 2 area of the state, covering five Stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina.





During the ceremony, the Governor visited the National Theatre Station of the Blue Line Rail Project, where the Lagos State Cowry transport payment card with the Touch and Pay system were tested and certified for use.

This was followed by a train ride from Iganmu (National Arts Theater) to Marina by the Governor along with members of the State Executive Council, including the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to test the completed infrastructure.

Speaking on the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu said :

“Let me make it clear that today is not the commissioning of the inaugural phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit. What we are gathered for, is to commemorate the completion of the project construction.”

“In the first quarter of 2023, we will put together a fitting official commissioning. Until then, we have an important phase of test-running to carry out, to ensure that everything is in place and in order, for the kick-off of full commercial operations.”
