Stellantis Set To layoff Over 2450 Workers Near Their Detroit Plant

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is laying off as many as 2,450 workers at its Warren Truck plant outside Detroit as the automaker ends production of the Ram 1500 Classic pickup truck.

The layoffs will take effect as early as October 8, according to the company. Production of the Jeep Wagoneer in the same facility will remain in two shifts, according to the announcement.

With the Ram 1500 Classic ending later this year, the company is focusing on the Ram 1500 Tradesman, which is built at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.

About 3,700 workers, represented by the United Auto Workers Union, work in the factory. Union members who are laid off will receive 52 weeks of additional unemployment benefits paid by the company and 52 weeks of transition assistance, Stellantis confirmed. He will also receive two years of health insurance.
