New Jersey-based Triton Solar has unveiled its first-ever electric vehicle that is designed to go up against the upcoming Cadillac Escalade EV.

The 8-seater electric SUV, named Triton Model H, comes in two versions. Both models will have standard all-wheel drive, thanks to a four-motor system.

The drive-train churns out 1000hp in the base model, while the high-performance version will give 1,500hp.

The 7,700lb performance SUV will be able to move from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 kmph) in just 2.9 seconds.

The base model’s 150-kWh battery pack will get a range of 500-plus miles from a single charge.

The performance model will have a massive 200 kWh battery pack that gives a 700 miles drive range on a single charge, which is more than twice the range of the Tesla Model 3.

The base eSUV has a towing capacity of 15,400 lbs, while the performance model has a capacity to pull 26,000 pounds, enough to pull/carry superheavy loads without breaking a sweat.

The Triton Model H is available for pre-order at the company’s official webpage.

The base model starts at $140,000 (₦54.5m), while the performance model will start at roughly $180,000 (₦70m).  These prices excludes destination and clearing charges in Nigeria.

Pre-booking cost $5,000 (₦1.9m), beside the $135,000 (₦52.6m) that you have to pay within the next five business days to finalize the reservation.

Triton said you can get the performance model for the same price as the base model if you book early.
