US Government Abandons Its $400 Million Bid To Purchase Official Tesla Vehicles
A big fuss has been made in the US. Namely, it seems that the US government was planning to award Tesla a major contract for the procurement of official vehicles with ballistic protection.
It’s a controversial decision because the co-owner and CEO of Tesla is practically a civil servant who heads the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and is a close associate of President Donald Trump.
The US State Department has announced a large order for armored Tesla models, worth $400 million. But an avalanche of objections and criticism followed, so Tesla’s name was removed from the order and it was only announced that it would be electric armoured cars. However, it is still expected that Tesla cars could make up a large part of the procurement.
