10 Reasons Why The All-new Mercedes-Benz VLE Redefines The Grand Limousine

Earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz began producing the all-new 2027 Mercedes-Benz VLE ultra-luxury Minivan at its state-of-the-art plant in Vitoria, Spain. The facility also produces existing models, including the V‑Class, Vito and eVito.
The German marque describes its first-ever Grand Limousine, the VLE, as a vehicle that combines the versatility and spaciousness of an MPV with the agility and ride comfort of a Mercedes-Benz limousine.
“Our Grand Limousine for up to eight people is exceptionally spacious, intelligent, efficient and delivers impressive agility and long-distance comfort. The VLE is perfectly designed around real customer needs – and engineered to further exceed their expectations,” says Thomas Klein, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans.
While the current VLE 300 and 400 4MATIC electric models already boast unmatched comfort and versatility, Mercedes-Benz says that a VLE long version with “even more interior space” will be available starting in 2027.
Following the start of production and ahead of start of sales, Mercedes-Benz list 10 reasons why the new VLE redefines the Grand Limousine.
Following the start of production and ahead of the official start of sales, Mercedes-Benz has highlighted 10 reasons why the all-new electric VLE completely redefines the “Grand Limousine” vehicle segment.
1. Long-distance comfort without range anxiety
The VLE uses battery-pack with a usable energy content of 115 kWh, which allows it go 700 kilometers (approx. 435 miles). Thanks to its 800-volt tech, the VLE gains up to 355 km (approx. 220 miles) within just 15 minutes using high-power DC fast charging.
2. Superior ride
Featuring AIRMATIC air suspension to absorb speed bumps and potholes, the VLE offers superior ride comfort, while its seven-degree rear-axle steering provides impressive stability during high-speed lane changes and sudden evasive maneuvers.
3. Seats up to eight people
The all-new VLE seats up to eight people across three full-size rows. Its manually operated seats feature four integrated wheels that allow them to move back and forth, while the electrically adjustable seats can be easily moved via an app and the head unit.
4. Newly developed seats
Three newly developed individual seat types are available for the rear cabin: the manual Comfort Seat, the electric Premium Comfort Seat, and the Grand Comfort Seat, the latter which adds a pillow, wireless charging, lumbar support with a massage function, and electric calf support.
5. 31.3‑inch screen
Hidden in the headliner above the front seats is a retractable, 31.3-inch panoramic screen featuring an 8K resolution, a split-screen function, and an eight-megapixel camera. Operated via the touchpad in the centre console, the screen is perfect for enjoying films, music videos, and games, or for joining video conferences.
6. Sky View panoramic roof
Another highlight is the Sky View panoramic roof, which offers a seamless, single-piece glass design stretching from the B-pillar to the rear. To ensure comfort, an electric sunblind provides effortless protection from intense sunlight.
7. Digital cockpit – MBUX Superscreen
The VLE boasts an MBUX Superscreen, which unites a 10.25-inch driver display, a 14-inch central display, and a 14-inch front passenger screen. The latter allows a personalised entertainment experience such as video streaming gaming or apps.
8. Top-notch digital intelligence
Thanks to the AI-powered Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), the MBUX Virtual Assistant, keeps the VLE up to date through over-the-air updates, adding new features without the customer ever having to visit a dealer.
9. Advanced Level 2 functionality
In addition, the MB.OS-powered MB.DRIVE Assist Pro offers SAE-Level 2 driving assistance, allowing the Grand Limousine to handle complex city streets and highway traffic. An optional MB.DRIVE Assist adds semi-autonomous steering on motorways and a Lane Change Assist.
10. Streamlined silhouette
The Grand Limousine features a streamlined silhouette with smooth surfaces and a sloping roofline, delivering exceptional low aerodynamic drag despite its XXL proportions.
