Tragedy Struck As 3 Children Suffocate In A Parked Car
Tragedy struck last Sunday after three kids suffocated while playing in a parked car. The incident occurred at the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 5 Squadron Barrack, Benin, Edo State, the Edo State capital.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. in front of the Police Mobile Force base’s administrative block.
The children were aged between four years and 20 months. They were said to have gotten stuck inside the vehicle and passed away before people noticed they were inside. The boys, all children of PMF operatives.
Probe suggested that the children swathe car with its door open and climbed in. According to sources, were discovered unconscious when their parents started looking for them. They were rushed to the hospital where they later died.
It was also learnt that the entire barrack was thrown into mourning over the news of their death. There were wailings that attracted people outside the facility. A source, who hinted on the incident, told newsmen that the children were immediately buried.
According to some neighbours, the children might have been shouting for help but could not be heard because all the windows were sht.
The police have ruled out foul play in the death of the kids in a parked car.
Several calls to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Edo State, Chidi Nwabuzor, were neither answered nor returned at the time of this report.
