The all-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class full-size luxury SUV has finally arrived at local dealerships across the country.

The new 3rd-generation GLS SUV, formerly known as the GL, is designed to competes with the Range Rover and the new BMW X7.

Speaking during the launch of the latest 2020 GLS into the Nigerian market, Mirko Plath, CEO, Weststar Associates Limited says :

“The GLS is a superstar in the SUV segment, and we are proud to unveil the 2020 edition to our customers here in Nigeria. With highlights like EQ Boost, the updated 4matic all-wheel drive and Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). We are certainly in for a treat”.

The three-row, seven-passenger vehicle combines dynamics and luxury both on the inside and outside in a unique way.

The front section of the new GLS exudes presence and power, thanks to the upright radiator grille, the chrome-plated underguard, as well as the bonnet with two powerdomes.

The GLS comes in two trims — the GLS 450 and the GLS 580. The massive SUV rides on ten-spoke 20-inch alloy, but 21 and 23-inch alloy is available as an option.

The wheelbase of 3,135 mm, which is 60 mm longer than that of its predecessor, creates more space, especially in the second seat row.

The three fully electrically adjustable seat rows offer all passengers a generous amount of space and outstanding seating comfort.

The seats in the third-row can be lowered into the floor to increase the boot space (up to 2,400 litres).

Inside, the 7-seater SUV boasts two massive 12.3-inch screens for digital instruments and infotainment controls; Apple CarPlay; Android Auto; a 64-color ambient lighting system; nine USB ports and a Burnmester sound system.

Rear Seat Comfort package includes a 7-inch Android tablet in its own docking station in the second row’s larger luxury centre armrest.

The tablet allows rear passengers to control entertainment functions from the rear seat rows, such as access to radio; TV; media; phone and web browser.

It can also be used to control five-zone automatic climate control for the rear seats. The driver can assume control of all options and features from their seat at any time, of course.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is available with two engine options : the inline-six (362 horsepower, 369 lb-ft) powered GLS 450 and V8-powered (483 hp, 516 lb-ft) GLS 580.

Both engines are paired to a nine-speed transmission and Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS has a starting price tag of N70 million from any of the accredited Mercedes-Benz showrooms under Weststar Associates franchise in the country.
