Police Confirm Death Of 8 Children Who Mistakenly Locked Themselves Inside Abandoned Car In Lagos
Lagos Police confirm the death of 8 children who mistakenly locked themselves inside an abandoned car in Lagos.
The abandoned car, a Honda Pilot SUV, was reported to be be owned by a retired LASU staff, who is now late.
The car was reportedly forced open by one of the 8 children, who was the grandchild of the owner.
The other seven are reported to be children of Bureau De Change Operators residing in the area.

The Police on Sunday confirmed the death of eight children who mistakenly locked themselves in an abandoned car while playing at Adelayo Str., Agunlayo, Jah Micheal, near Magbon area of Badagry.
The lifeless body of the children aged between four to nine years old were discovered by the owner of the building, Saliat Kazeem at about 5pm on Saturday, who raised alarm that the children were trapped inside the vehicle.
The abandoned car, a Honda Pilot SUV, with registration number AAA157BD, was parked inside a fenced house and it was reported to be be owned by a retired LASU staff, who is now late.
In a statement, the Spokesman for the Lagos Police Command, Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu said the bodies had been recovered and deposited at the Badagry General Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy so as to determine the actual cause of death.

“Notwithstanding the report made to the Police, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered a thorough and speedy investigation into the circumstances surrounding their death.
“The CP also commiserates with the families of the victims,” he said.
In a chat with NAN, Mr Suru Avoseh, Commissioner, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, said the car was forced open by one of the 8 children, who was the grandchild of the car owner, while the other seven are Nigerians residing in the area.
“The other seven kids are children of Bureau De Change Operators living in the community.
“The children forced the door of vehicle opened, entered and closed the door.
“No ventilation and nobody knew something was wrong and they suffocated and died.
“It wasn’t a kidnapping incident or any foul play by anyone. It is unfortunate,” he said.
