Man Who Beat Traffic Light In Lagos Got A ₦20K Penalty Through Text Message

Man who beat traffic light in Alausa area of Lagos State got a ₦20K penalty through text message.
He committed the traffic offence while on his way to an owambe – a party in Lagos.
LASG uses a number plate detection platform, PayVIS, designed to capture traffic offenders and then bill them.
PayVIS is an initiative of the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (LACVIS).
A Twitter user @Babygiwa has revealed how his uncle who beat a traffic light in Alausa area of Lagos State got the shock of his life after receiving a penalty of ₦20,000 through a test message moments he arrived at his destination.
He said his uncle committed the traffic offence while on his way to an owambe – a party.
“My uncle beat traffic light in Alausa on his way to owambe. He got a 20K penalty text message as he was settling into the party????”

Replying to the tweet with funny emoji, Jubril Gawat, the media aide of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, retweeted an earlier tweet showing some of the newly installed traffic cameras in the State.

“SANWO MA PA WA NAU” ???”, Gawat tweeted.
The Lagos State government had had last year launched a number plate detection platform, PayVIS, designed to capture traffic offenders and then bill them.
PayVIS is an initiative of the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (LACVIS). Traffic cameras located beside traffic lights will capture traffic offenders without the presence of traffic officials on the roads.
