Customs Intercepts 190 Vehicles Worth ₦7.3b, Including 2 Prado’s With The Same Chassis Number
Customs Rapid Response Squad intercepts 190 vehicles worth ₦7.3 billion in January 2023.
Among the seizures are two Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs with the same Chassis Number.
Other seizures includes twenty-eight units of Toyota Land Cruiser 70 pickup trucks, popularly known as Buffaloes.
Coordinator of the anti-smuggling Unit, Okpabi, vow to continue to frustrate the activities of the smugglers.
The Nigerian Customs Service Rapid Response Squad Headquarters (HQ) has announced the seizure of One Hundred and Ninety vehicles (190) that were smuggled into the country in January 2023.
At a press briefing, the Coordinator of Rapid Response Squad, newly appointed Deputy Comptroller Jack Okpabi, revealed that the Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seizures amounted to over ₦7.3 billion Naira.
Speaking further on the Interceptions, the Deputy Comptroller said two Toyota Prado sports utility vehicles (SUVs) with the same chassis number were among the seizures.
A car’s chassis number is often printed on the driver’s side door. Okpabi added that investigation is ongoing to know which Prado carries the original Vehicle Identification Number.
Seized vehicles paraded in a short clip posted on the Nigerian Customs Service Facebook page includes Toyota Prado SUVs and twenty-eight units of Toyota Land Cruiser 70 pickup trucks, popularly known as Buffaloes.
While commending his team, the Coordinator of the anti-smuggling unit vowed to continue to frustrate the activities of the smugglers whom he said are trying to bring down the economy of the country.
