Ford Gives More Design Details Of The Latest 2024 Mustang Dark Horse

The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse was revealed at last year’s Detroit Auto Show, but Ford never showed off the performance model’s interior. That has changed as Ford just released photos and details about the Dark Horse’s unique interior changes. Plus, the painted stripe option introduced on the previous-gen Shelby GT500 returns.

The most notable design element will certainly be the new color-shifting Blue Ember exterior paint color. The tone was chosen to be “shadowy and sinister, but complex enough to force a double take on the street,” the automaker writes. The dark blue metallic paint shade is pearlescent and features deep blue pigments in addition to warmer amber hues that makes the finish appear to change depending on the lighting conditions.

In addition, buyers will be offered two special stripe options for the exterior. Available in vinyl and hand-painted forms, the accents are designed to enhance the performance-oriented exterior of the car.

Elsewhere in the interior, the Dark Horse will feature a synthetic suede-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel with buttons to select drive modes as well as control functions of the instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch center touchscreen. Bright Indigo Blue contrast stitching will highlight the instrument panel, door panels, seats, gear shift boot, and center console trim and lid. The available drift brake will also have an anodized lever that drivers can use to modulate rear wheel spin in Track mode to control drifts. The shift knob for the six-speed manual transmission is a unique titanium knob in anodized blue — Ford says it’s hollow to keep it from getting hot in warm weather.

Power comes from a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that makes 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque. Buyers will be able to start customizing their own model in the summer of 2023 when Ford finally puts it on sale.
