Kidnapping : Enugu State Bans Vehicles With Unauthorized Tinted Glasses From September 4

Enugu State bans vehicles with unauthorized tinted glasses to combat kidnapping, other crimes.

Ban on vehicles with tinted glasses starts on Monday September 4, 2023, which is four weeks after the notice.

Says defaulting vehicles will be impounded by the enforcement task force.

Adds that vehicles will be released after the tinted glasses are removed and the specified fines paid.

The Enugu State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, has ban the unauthorized use of vehicles with tinted glasses in a move to combat kidnapping and other crimes in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, made this known in a statement on Monday, adding that the ban will take effect from September 4.

“In line with its determination to combat the nefarious activities of kidnappers and other criminal elements, the Enugu State Government hereby bans the unauthorized use of vehicle-tinted glasses in the state.

“The ban shall take effect after four weeks of this notice, with consequent enforcement starting on Monday, September 4, 2023.

“This is to give owners of vehicles with tinted glasses, who did not obtain police tinted permits before the suspension of its issuance by the Nigeria Police Force on June 7, 2021, sufficient time to have them removed or replaced if they are factory fitted, by the provisions of the law.”

“Defaulting vehicles shall be impounded by the enforcement task force and shall not be released to their owners until the tinted glasses are removed or replaced and the specified fines paid.”

“It is important to reiterate that the ban is primarily aimed at curtailing the activities of criminals and to generally enhance the security and safety of the good people and residents of Enugu State.

“We, therefore, solicit the understanding and cooperation of the general public in this regard,” the SSG added.
