Breaking : Governor Sanwo-Olu announces 25% fare slash on all public transportation within Lagos State.
Says that decision is part of measures to cushion the effect of the economic hardship being felt by Lagosians currently.
In addition, Governor Sanwo-Olu said that civil Servants from GL 1-14 will only be going to work three times a week.
Teachers will be given additional transport support as they would still be going to work five times a week.
Lagos State Governor Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a 25% fare slash on all government-owned transport schemes, including BRT, Blue Line Train and Ferry, as part of measures to cushion the effect of the economic hardship being felt by Lagosians currently.
The Governor made this known on Thursday February 22nd during a Live Media Chat with the title, “Enhancing Food Security”, noting that the decision will take off some of the pressure that Lagosians are facing at the moment.
Sanwo-Olu said :
“First it is necessary to express one’s deepest sympathy with our citizens. To say one does not know what is going on now will be completely insensitive. And I want to look straight into the camera and say indeed, we all have a responsibility to do a better job of ourselves. As leaders, it is not for us to give excuses but to solve the socio-economic problems of our people”.
But the 25 percent fare slash is one of series of transportation interventions that Governor Sanwo-Olu announced on Thursday aimed at providing relief and comfort to the populace.
In addition, Sanwo-Olu said that civil Servants from GL 1 to GL 14 will only be going to work three times a week while teachers will be given additional transport support as they would still be going to work five times a week.
