LASTMA rescues Korope driver after crashing into a culvert on the 3rd Mainland Bridge while using a mobile phone.
The Korope driver reportedly sustained a serious back fracture and injury to his left hand in the lone accident.
LASTMA later removed the damaged Suzuki (Korope bus ) from the expressway to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Motorists, including commercial bus drivers, urged to avoid using phones while driving and to refrain from speeding.

The operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were on hand to rescue a Korope driver after crashing into a culvert on the 3rd Mainland Bridge while using a mobile phone.
The driver reportedly sustained a serious back fracture and injury to his left hand in the lone accident at Ilubirin, near Adeniji Adele area on Lagos Island.
A statement by Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA, confirmed that the driver was immediately taken to the General Hospital by LASAMBUS Officials.
“Initial investigations revealed that the driver of a white Suzuki ‘Korope’ (LSR 116 YD) lost control while using a mobile phone, causing the vehicle to collide with a culvert beside the 3rd Mainland Expressway.”
“LASTMA personnel immediately contacted other emergency responders, including Lasambus officials and police officers from the Adeniji Adele Police Station.”
“Our team promptly removed the damaged Suzuki from the expressway to ensure smooth traffic flow towards Iyana-Oworo on the Third Mainland Bridge.”
While expressing sympathies to the injured driver, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, urged all motorists, including commercial bus drivers, to avoid using phones while driving and to refrain from speeding within or outside Lagos.
