Sanwo-Olu Flags Off Commercial Operations Of Lagos Red Line

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday September 15th 2024 officially launched the passenger operations of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line, marking a significant milestone for the state’s transportation system.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in the company of his cabinet members, took part in the inaugural ride of the first phase of Red Line, which stretches 27-kilometer between Agbado in Ogun State and Oyingbo in Lagos State.

Boasting eight stations at Oyingbo, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, Iju and Agbado (in Ogun State), the first phase of the Lagos Red Line is expected to reduce travel times between Agbado and Oyingbo to just 55 minutes from close to three hours.

Customs Extends Verification Exercise On Import Duty Recovery For Privately Owned Aircraft

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has extended its verification exercise for the recovery of import duties on illegally imported private aircrafts by one month, from Monday 14th October 2024, to Thursday, 14th November 2024.

In a statement, the service noted that the extension is to further engage operators of privately-owned aircraft who have expressed willingness to regularize their import duties, providing them with an additional window to comply with the necessary regulations.

“In light of this extension, the NCS encourages aircraft operators to take full advantage of the extended period to fulfill their obligations, avoiding sanctions that may arise from non-compliance after the deadline.”

LASG Conducts Site Visit To Advance The Realization Of The Lagos Green Line

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has conducted a site visit to advance the realization of the 67-kilometers Green Line Rail Mass Transit Project.

“The primary objective of the site visit was to familiarize the construction company with the project’s right of way,” LAMATA said in a statement.

“This information will be crucial for completing their comprehensive feasibility study and subsequently determining the most optimal approach for constructing the Green Line.”

The Green Line rail project, spanning a total of 67 kilometers, is projected to carry over 500,000 passengers per day at starting, rising to over a million as demand grows.
