Tesla cars now drive themselves from factory to loading dock with no one behind the wheels, Elon Musk reacts.

The US Electric Vehicle maker said this feat is one step closer to large-scale unsupervised self-driving (FSD).

While this is a milestone for Tesla, BMW achieved this feat in 2022 with its “automated driving in the factory”.

BMW’s automated driving in the factory” allows the flagship 7th-gen 7-Series to drive automatically along a pre-determined route.

Tesla has achieved a key milestone in its pursuit of full self-driving (FSD) technology as new vehicles now drive themselves from the assembly line to the loading dock with no one behind the wheels.

In a video shared by Tesla AI, new electric vehicles were seen autonomously driving from the Fremont factory to the designated loading dock lanes without any human intervention.

“Teslas now drive themselves from their birthplace at the factory to their designated loading dock lanes without human intervention. One step closer to large-scale unsupervised FSD,” Tesla AI wrote in its caption.

Reacting to the video, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said “Unsupervised full self-driving begins”. It comes few months after Musk unveiled the firm’s highly anticipated self-driving robotaxi at an event called “We, Robot”.

While this is a milestone for Tesla, BMW achieved this feat as far back as July 2022 with its “automated driving in the factory,” which allows the flagship seventh-generation 7-Series to drive automatically along a pre-determined route.

The revamped BMW 7-Series’ autonomous (without a human) ride starts from the end of the assembly line at the Dingolfing plant to the dispatch area with no one behind the wheels.
