Hyundai Inster Has Been Named TopGear’s Supermini Of The Year

The all-electric Hyundai INSTER has been named “Supermini of the Year” at the 2026 TopGear.com Awards in London, winning one of the most prestigious accolades in European automotive media. TopGear.com experts praised the INSTER for its versatile performance, thoughtful interior design, and rich equipment levels, highlighting its leading position in the rapidly growing small electric vehicle segment.
“This latest accolade from TopGear.com is yet another strong endorsement of the INSTER’s quality, following the ‘World Electric Vehicle 2025’ title it won in New York and the ‘Golden Steering Wheel’ award recently presented in Berlin,” said Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe. “The growing list of accolades shows how strongly the INSTER resonates with industry experts who appreciate its smart design, efficient electric performance, and everyday usability—exactly what European drivers expect from a modern and affordable electric vehicle.”
Compact EV developed for Europe
INSTER combines the distinctive design of a compact SUV with agile performance in urban conditions, with an all-electric WLTP range of up to 370 kilometers (with a larger battery capacity), making it ideal for both everyday city driving and spontaneous weekend trips. On DC fast chargers, INSTER can be charged from 10 to 80% in about 30 minutes.
Two efficient powertrain options are available: 97 hp with a 42 kWh battery or 115 hp with a 49 kWh battery, both providing smooth and responsive electric performance. All this is complemented by a modern digital cockpit with two 10.25-inch screens, as well as a versatile and spacious cabin, making the INSTER a particularly attractive entry into the world of zero-emission mobility.
A series of awards
The latest accolade adds to a growing list of awards won in 2025. INSTER has already taken home the titles of “World Electric Vehicle 2025” and “Golden Steering Wheel 2025” in the category of vehicles up to €25,000, with judges particularly highlighting its design, charging capabilities, and everyday usability. Together, these accolades confirm INSTER’s growing reputation as one of the most attractive new small electric cars in Europe.
