Christian von Koenigsegg Ponders Using Diesel engines As A Substitute For EV

Christian von Koenigsegg has an alternative to electric cars.
– A diesel hybrid would be fantastic. If you are not allowed to drive on diesel in the cities, it simply shuts down, and you have a large battery at your disposal, the owner of the factory for the production of hyper sports cars told Carbuzz.
Christian von Koenigsegg is highlighting diesel plug-in hybrids running on the HVO100 as an alternative to electric cars. HVO100 is a synthetic fuel that reduces the CO₂ footprint by 90 percent.
– For long journeys, use HVO, which is renewable diesel. Let’s say you use HVO for 5% of the driving. The rest is electric, and your car is 300 kilograms lighter than your average long-range electric car because the battery is a third lighter. It’s much better for the environment, and no one thinks about it, says Christian von Koenigsegg.
Currently, only Mercedes uses diesel hybrids.
